Relief for Times Now Anchor Supreme court assisted Times Now anchor Navika Kumar by protecting multiple of Fir/complaints registered over the comments made by her about Prophet Muhammed during a debate on the Times Now channel. The Bench comprising Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli on the writ petition filed by Navika Kumar against the numerous FIRs registered in different states over the boiling hot remarks made on May 26 in the telecasted show, passed this interim order.

Senior advocate Rohatgi representing Kumar contended that Kumar did not make the controversial comments she didn’t say anything, the debate is regarding Gyanvapi and surprisingly one of the contestants speaking and another retorted she tried to quench the fire by stating that we have to go by the constitution. He informed that the First FIR was registered in Delhi and there was a demand to link the cases with Delhi FIR. He said, Kumar is facing a Horde of FIRs and there were six FIRs against him alone in Kolkata. He also relied on the judgement of the TT Antony case which held that a second FIR cannot be registered in respect of the same offence. The senior advocate also contended that interim protection to prime accused Nupur Sharma has been granted by the court. Nupur Sharma dissension FORMER BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma during the debate on Times Now on May 26 made remarks on the prophet Mohammed.

Another panellist Rehm ani who allegedly kept abusing Hindu Gods excites Nupur to make such remarks. After the debate, Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair dexterously shared what she said on social media, but did not specify what was the reason for her remark. He systematically campaigned against Nupur which leads to worldwide condemnation of the central government. On June 5, after an uproar, the BJP government suspended Sharma. She apologizes for the remarks but she starts getting abhorrent death and rape threats due to this, she has been provided security and presently she is staying at an unrevealed location. After Zubair shared the video of the telecast on Twitter the matter became more controversial and it took many twists and turns.

All those who favours and support Sharma received death threats ad were beaten up harshly and some of them were killed also like- Businessman Umesh Kohle from Amravati, Tailor Kanhaiya Lal from Udaipur and many more were ferociously killed by Islamists. There has also been a massive riot in different parts of the country after the dog whistling by Mohmmad Zubair. After condemning Nupur for what happened in the nation after arguments, the supreme court did not grant her any relief initially but the court later passed interim order for no coercive action by the police against her would be taken. The relief was granted to Muhammad Zubair just a day before he was granted bail on several FIRs lodged against him for causing injury to religious sentiments.
