[Anti-Muslim sloganeering at Jantar Mantar] Pinki Chaudhary has been granted protection from arrest by a Delhi court till August 16th. Session Extensions Judge Ashutosh Kumar postponed Chaudhary's arrest until Monday, instructing him to cooperate with the inquiry whenever possible and not to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence. Pinki Chaudhary, one of the primary defendants in the Jantar Mantar anti-muslim sloganeering event in New Delhi (Bhupender Tomer (Pinki Chaudhary) v. State), has been given temporary protection from arrest by a Delhi court.

The Patiala House Court in Delhi awarded Chaudhary temporary protection until August 16. Session Extensions Judge Ashutosh Kumar postponed Chaudhary's arrest until Monday, instructing him to cooperate with the inquiry whenever possible and not to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence. Sections 188 (disobedience to public servant orders), 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 153A (promoting enmity between religious groups), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code have been filed against Chaudhary. During the hearing, the Station House Officer (SHO) agreed to provide video evidence of the episode in question, which reveals Chaudhary's presence and the things he said.

By the following hearing date, the SHO promised to record the transcript of the same. The accused's lawyer claimed that he was not mentioned in the First Information Report and that he did not raise any communal slogans or say anything to damage another community's religious emotions. While granting Chaudhary protection, the court also noted that the event's main 'organiser,' Ashwini Upadhyay, had previously been given bail. The accused allegedly took part in a Bharat Jodo Movement demonstration against colonial-era laws in the nation on Sunday in Delhi, when anti-Muslim chants were purportedly uttered. Former BJP spokesperson and Supreme Court lawyer Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay organised the gathering. Later, Upadhyay and five others were apprehended.

Upadhyay, on the other hand, denied any involvement in the slogan-raising, claiming that he had left the venue at 12 p.m., while the slogans were shouted around 5 p.m. by unknown miscreants. Upadhyay was eventually granted bail, but three other defendants, Preet Singh, Deepak Singh, and Vinod Sharma, had their bail applications turned down.
