[Delhi Riots] After a Delhi judge took a humanitarian view of his physical condition, an accused who was shot during the riots was granted interim bail. On humanitarian grounds, a Delhi court granted temporary release to a riot suspect who was shot during the Delhi riots in February 2020 and is said to have had a paralytic stroke in custody [State Vs. Mohd. Shahid]. The jail officials notified Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat that accused Mohd Shahid was being wheeled to a hospital because his limbs had stopped working. The accused's medical condition was of crucial significance, according to the bail order issued on August 11, 2021, which highlighted the seriousness of the charges against him. Shahid had a paralytic attack on August 3, 2021, and was taken to GTB Hospital, according to the accused's lawyer.
The defence claimed that the defendant had lost his capacity to walk or use his limbs normally, in addition to acquiring kidney stones that caused "serious recurrent agony."
