Ex- Supreme Court Judge G.T Nanavati breathed his last at his residence in Ahmedabad yesterday (18.12.2021) He was 86. Justice Nanavati was born on February 17 in 1935. His son, Maulik Nanavati, informed him that Mr Nanavati passed away due to a heart attack around 1:30 pm. His son is a practising advocate in the Gujarat High Court. G.T. Nanavati, his full name was Girish Thakorlal Nanavati headed commissions that probed the Anti-Sikh Riots (1984) and the Godhra Riots Inquiry Commission (2002)

His Legal Journey - He enrolled as an Advocate in 1958. He began his legal practice before the Bombay High Court after enrollment. He was a part of the Government Pleaders' Panel. However, he was later appointed as a judge of the Gujarat High Court in 1979. In 1993, he was transferred to the High Court of Orissa. On the 31st day of January 1994, Justice Nanavati was appointed as the Chief Justice. In September of 1994, Justice G.T.Nanavati was transferred as Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
