In an attempt to murder case The Supreme Court granted protection from arrest for 10 days to Nitesh Rane. Nitesh Rane is a Bhartiya Janta Party MLA for Maharastra Legislature Assembly and a son of Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Narayan Rane.

Nitish Rane has approached the Supreme Court after his anticipatory plea was rejected by the Bombay High Court. He has been accused as the main conspirator behind the alleged attack on the Shiv Sena member one day before New Year’s eve.

The BJP MLA states that the FIR has been registered to prevent him from Sindhuburg District Bank elections and since he mocked Shiv Sena leader in the Assembly. 

The complainant alleged that he was stabbed by a paper cutter. Chief Justice of India NV Ramana advised the go for regular bail and disposed of the matter but provided Nitish Rane protection from arrest for 10 days.

Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for the State and is also a member of the Indian National Congress in the Rajya Sabha representing the West Bengal. Mukul Rohatgi former Attorney General of India argued for Nitesh Rane.
