[COVID-19] The Punjab and Haryana High Court has extended the duration of interim orders to September 15th. The Court has prolonged interim orders in view of the current circumstances in India and throughout the world as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. In light of the current COVID-19 scenario, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday extended the term of interim orders till September 15, 2021. (Court on its own motion vs. Union of India). Interim orders are required to deal with and safeguard the parties' rights during the time between the start of the proceedings and the ultimate judgement. They empower the court to provide whatever remedy or make whatever order is necessary, just, and equitable.

They also prohibit any misuse of the legal system while the case is pending. As a result, interim or interlocutory proceedings are extremely important throughout the course of a dispute between parties. The phrase 'interim order' refers to a court order issued during the course of a lawsuit. The Court usually passes it to maintain the status quo . The Latin legal adage "Actus curiae neminem gravabit," which translates to "an act of the court must prejudice no one," best explains the basis for such decrees to be granted by the courts.

As a result, the court may issue an interim injunction to guarantee that none of the litigants' interests are jeopardised. The judgement was issued on Tuesday by a bench of Justices Ravi Shanker Jha and Arun Palli in a suo-motu case filed to monitor court accessibility and other concerns during the COVID-19 epidemic. After Amicus Curiae, Senior Advocate Anupam Gupta's representations on the COVID-19 issue, the verdict was made. “Learned Amicus Curiae has presented to this Court certain material highlighting the current situation in India as well as other countries due to the pandemic (COVID-19), which is germane to the issues that are being examined and also whether the interim arrangements/orders made by this Court need to be continued,” the Court noted. In light of this, the Court's April 28 interim order, which was later explained on August 20, was instructed to be maintained. On September 15, the subject will be discussed again.
