Due to the rise in the new variant of Covid -19, the Omicron, the High Court at Madras announced that it has cancelled the modes physical and hybrid hearing from the 3rd of January, 2022. The notification ordered all Subordinate Courts as well as the High Court of the State of Tamil Nadu to conduct virtual hearings until further orders. In November of 2021, the High Court allowed the litigants and the clerks to enter the Court. On December 27th of 2021, the High Court had issued a notice which permitted physical hearings from January 3, 2022. The above notice was issued by the High Court earlier regarding the reopening of the Court for hearings from January 3rd of 2022. However, this order was temporarily suspended.
