[BREAKING] Post-poll violence in West Bengal: The Calcutta High Court has ordered a CBI investigation into murder cases and crimes against women.

A Special Investigation Team will look into the other instances (SIT). The High Court will keep an eye on both investigations, according to the Bench. The Calcutta High Court today ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into incidents of murder and crimes against women that occurred during West Bengal's post-poll unrest. A Special Investigation Team will look into any additional incidents of post-election violence (SIT). The High Court will keep an eye on both investigations, according to the Bench. On October 4, 2021, the case will be revisited. Following the Assembly elections, several people who had to evacuate their homes due to violence went to court, saying that TMC employees were refusing to let them return. The WBSLSA then filed a report with the Court outlining the complaints they had received as well as the consequences of the post-poll violence. Regarding the WBSLSA report, the Court made the following observations. "According to the reports collected, 3,243 people are said to have been harmed. The allegations were forwarded to the appropriate police station in a number of situations, but there was no reaction."

As a result, it ordered the NHRC to intervene, as well as instructing the State to guarantee that the NHRC Committee has the necessary support to visit the impacted communities. It was suggested that serious crimes such as murder and rape be turned over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation and that such cases be prosecuted outside of the state. The state administration vehemently disputed the NHRC findings, which questioned the human rights commission's impartiality.
