After applications were submitted in the name of a deceased lawyer, the Allahabad High Court ordered an investigation. Aditya Narayan Singh, the lawyer, died in 2014, and petitions were filed in his name. After it was revealed that petitions were submitted in the name of a deceased lawyer, the Allahabad High Court ordered the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) on Wednesday. Justice Samit Gopal, a single-judge, took a dim view of the occurrence, observing that the lawyer in whose name the plea was submitted had died in 2014. Sri Aditya Narayan Singh, Advocate (who is believed to have died on 16.05.2014) had been the only counsel in two matters and one of the counsels in the writ petition, according to the decision. The judgement was made in response to a bail motion filed on behalf of two murder suspects, Kamlesh Yadav and Rajesh Chauhan, under Section 439 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Even when the issue was taken up in the updated list, no one attended on behalf of the petitioners to push the bail application when it was taken up.

The Court observed that the plea was submitted in secret for reasons only known to the person who had filed it for mischief. He subsequently failed to come before the Court to press his plea, according to the Court. The Registrar General was ordered to file a FIR with the Court in the issue, and the inquiry should be taken seriously in order to determine the truth and take necessary punishment against those engaged in filing false pleas. "Within one month of today, the necessary work will be completed. The Senior Superintendent of Police in Prayagraj has been told to ensure that the inquiry is carried out quickly and properly by a responsible and qualified police officer "the Court ordered "The current bail application is an example of fake person(s) presenting a lawsuit before a court of law," the judge stated.

Although he was not a counsel in the case, Advocate Abhishek Kumar appeared when the issue was first heard on July 26. Kumar also presented three orders to the Court, one of which listed the dead lawyer as the counsel. The case will be heard again on October 25, when the Court will review the Registrar General's and the Additional Government Advocate's compliance reports before issuing additional directions.
