  • 'It's a Revenge in Disguise'

After Nawab Malik's defamatory and tortious comments on social media platforms, interviews, press releases, etc, Dhyandev Wankhede filed a defamation suit of 1.25 crore in damages against Malik. Dhyandev Kachruji Wankhede is the father of Sameer Wankhede filed a defamation suit against NCP Leader Nawab Malik.

This is the second defamation suit filed against the NCP leader. D. Wankhede sought a permanent injunction preventing Malik, his party members, and any others acting under his supervision from publishing, writing, or speaking in the media or publishing any defamatory statements about Sameer Wankhede and his family members. He also pursued the deletion of any articles, tweets, interviews posted on social media against him or his family members.

The issue was presented before a vacation bench of Justice SJ Kathawalla and Justice Surendra Tawade. However, the matter was adjourned for Monday - the 8th of November, 2021. The case will be heard before Justice Madhav Jamdar. During the hearing, counsel appearing for Wankhede stated that Malik called their entire family (Wankhede's) a fraud, they also raised eyebrows about Wankhede's religious beliefs.

Wankhede demanded Malik to pay 1.25 crore as compensation for the irreparable loss, damage, harm, prejudice to the name, character, reputation, and image caused to the plaintiff and his family members.

What caused this squabble?

Sameer Wankhede had arrested Malik's son-in-law in February and was released on bail months later, in September. There is an appeal pending in the High Court with regards to his bail. This was the spark that ignited a fire, subsequently, Malik posted defamatory statements against Wankhede and his family.

A pure tit for tat.
