"It's Time To Send A Message To Anti-Socials Who Spread Hatred Based On Religion Through Hate Speech": Rambhagat Gopal's Bail Is Denied By Gurugram Court A Gurugram court today dismissed Rambhagat Gopal's Bail Writ, stating that the ordinary man's faith in the state must be restored, and that the state must not encourage such individuals who promote hatred and animosity in the name of religion, caste, and other factors. "Now is the moment to send a strong message to such anti-social individuals who spread hatred based on religion or other factors through hate speech," the Court ruled.
He allegedly delivered a hate speech inciting the kidnapping and killing of girls and members of a certain religious community, and the Court reviewed the recording. He admitted in court that the individual seen in the video recording uttering an inflammatory comment at the time of the incident was the accused, Rambhagat Gopal Sharma. As a result, the Court found that, at this point of the bail application, the veracity of the video clip presented to the court could not be questioned prima facie.
Furthermore, the Court stated that such occurrences have grown quite regular in recent years, and that the average man is constantly threatened with violence in the name of religion, caste, and other factors. The Court further stated that if such people are allowed to roam freely and engage in such activities, the very existence of communal cohesion may be jeopardised, sending the incorrect message that such behaviour is acceptable in society. The court also remarked that he is not a simple innocent little lad who knows nothing; rather, he is demonstrating that what he has done in the past has now enabled him to carry out his hatred without fear, as well as urge the masses to join him in his hatred.
