A notice regarding the appointment of Justice Mishra was issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice on the 22nd day of December, a Wednesday. The notification read as follows - In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Indian Constitution, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra, the senior-most Judge of the Uttarakhand High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the chief justice of the Uttarakhand High Court with effect from the 24th of December 2021 upon the retirement of Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan, Chief Justice, Uttarakhand High Court.
