The Bench of Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court has requested the parties, persons, and the counsels to avoid addressing with 'My Lord', 'Your Lordship', 'Your Honor', or with the prefix 'Honorable' Any other form of address that is consistent with the demeanour of the court is applicable. The use of 'Sir' was permitted. Justices who refuse to be addressed as My Lord, Your Lordship, Your Honour -

  • Justice S Muralidhar of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in March 2020
  • Justice Arun Kumar Tiwari of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in March 2021
  • The Apex Court Bench headed by the then CJI SA Bobde Justice P Krishna Bhat of the Karnataka High Court in 2021 The High Court of Rajasthan had in a notice requested the advocates to refrain from addressing Judges as Your Lord and Your Lordship in the year 2020
  • In the year 2020, Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court Thottathil B Nair Radhakrishnan in a letter written to the officers of the district judiciary appealed to address the Chief Justice as "Sir"
