The Allahabad High Court has amended its rules on 29th may regarding the paper to be used in submissions made before the court and would be enforced form the date of its publication in official gazette. All the submissions thereafter to be made on A4 size sheets having not less that 75 GMS, (29.7 cm X 2l cm) The amendments in the acts include provisions rule o of chapter IX; Rule 11 of Chapter lX; Rule 2 of Chapter XIII; Rule 8 of Chapter XV-A; Rule 3 of chapter XXVII and Rule 16, chapter XL.
Every paper used to make submissions before the court should be A4 size sheets printed/ typed/ written on 1 side of the sheet. Formatting style should be as prescribed by the court, previously the submissions were to be made on the Government water-marked paper, rule 6 of Chapter lX. The copies shall be also printed/ written/ lithographed on the A4 size sheets and the same shall be one side of the sheet, preceding rule was that copies were to be submitted with a quarter margin on one side of durable paper, Rule 11 of Chapter lX. The paper-book in a First Appeal shall have 75 GSM with one and a half spacing and a fly-leaf, an index and copies with translations of the following, plaint, written statement, pleadings ,statements of parties or their pleaders recorded under rules 1 and 2 pleaders recorded under rules 1 and 2' of order X of the code; judgment under appeal, decree under appeal, memorandum of appeal, evidence, oral or documentary' or other papers as the appellant or other papers as the appellant may wish to refer to judge wish to refer to; memorandum of cross objection, other evidence, oral or the document or other papers as the respondent may wish to refer to, papers in Hindi written in Devanagari script shall not be translated, Urdu shall be transliterated in Devanagari script, forgoing rules were that the above said to be submitted on stout paper with double spacing, Rule 2 of Chapter XIII. Consequently Rule 8 of Chapter XV-A Regarding the description of the parties were modified saying that it shall be in manner provided in rules 1, 4, 5, 6 of chapter XI with modifications. Rule 3 of chapter XXVII, earlier was that the duplicate memorandum accompanied shall be in legal size paper, amended rules is to submit those in A4 size sheets.
In the application to be accompanied by copy folios and stamp labels if the whole of the copy cannot be written upon the copy folios accompanying the application it shall be completed upon A4 size paper, earlier these applications were completed upon ordinary foolscap size paper. Rule 16, chapter XL. These rules may be called the Allahabad High Court (Amendment) Rules,2021. The amendments were made in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 225 of the Constitution of India and all other powers enabling it in that behalf. The amended copies were to be circulated to the concerned authorities. Hence was signed and attested by the Registrar General of High Court of Allahabad.
